How much does natural aventurine stone cost?

Aventurine is an amazing stone known to mankind since ancient times. In ancient times it was believed that this was gold sand compressed under great pressure deep in the earth (by analogy with graphite, which turns into diamond). But this is just a beautiful legend. In fact, the “golden” flickering sparkles, so valued in designer jewelry, are formed by the smallest parallel ones. In ancient times it was believed that this was gold sand compressed under great pressure deep in the earth (by analogy with graphite, which turns into diamond). But this is just a beautiful legend. In fact, “golden” shimmering sparkles, so valued in designer jewelry, are formed by tiny parallel inclusions of mica, hematite or grains of copper. The mysterious shimmering shine with iridescence is also given to the mineral by many tiny cracks filled with iron hydroxides. The type of inclusions determines not only the “golden sparkles”, but also the color of the entire mineral. Thus, jewelry made from natural aventurine stone will have a greenish tint if it contains fuchsite (chromium mica). The red and orange hues are due to inclusions of hematite, the plates of which often take the shape of a star in cabochons. The mysterious black color is determined by the presence of goethite. Today, aventurine stone is mined in different shades: – blue – in Austria (Salzburg) and in some fields of the Deccan Peninsula (India, Rajasthan); – reddish brown – in Brazil and Spain; – green (fuchsite) – in India (Tamil Nadu), USA (here it is called “Colorado gold stone”) and China; – white (belorechet) – in Altai (Russia), named after the Belaya River, on the banks of which it was first discovered. It differs in that it can be almost mirror polished; – light gray, orange-yellow, pink and cherry red – in the Urals; – brown minerals with bright golden sparkles – in Spain, Cap de Gata; – reddish shades (“straw quartz”) – in Mexico. Aventurine is used to make both small designer jewelry (beads, pendants, bracelets, earrings, etc.) and as an ornamental material for accessories (knife handles, cutlery, caskets, etc.). Aventurine is a stone that is perfect for making various interior decoration items. For example, in the Hermitage collection there is a vase made of a light variety of stone, quite large in size (almost one and a half meters high – 146 cm, with a bowl width of 2,46 m). A second bowl similar to this one was presented by Russian Emperor Nicholas I to the English royal court and is now kept in the British Geological Museum.

AVENTURINE – an ornamental stone, a type of quartzite – a metamorphic rock consisting of quartz grains and many scattered inclusions of other minerals (hematite, goethite, muscovite and its green variety fuchsite, rutile, chlorites, etc.). These inclusions determine the color of aventurine and its sparkling shine – aventurescence (adventurization). The brightest shimmering shine is given to aventurine by inclusions of mica or hematite.
