How to check jadeite for authenticity?
Jadeite is a beautiful and valuable stone with powerful energy. It is a greenish mineral, and there are also varieties with yellow and blue veins.
This stone has been known to mankind since Neolithic times. Jadeite is about 4 times harder than granite, and ancient people made tools from it. Over time, having learned to process metal, they began to use jadeite products in magical and religious rituals.
The most ancient deposits are located in China. There the mineral was valued as highly as jade – the “stone of emperors.” Transparent gems are found in Burma, and bluish ones in Guatemala. Russian jadeite belongs to the cheapest “utility” grade and is used for interior decoration.
The most expensive types are considered to be “imperial” and “commercial”. They are most often imitated by unscrupulous jewelry dealers.
How jadeite is counterfeited
For the manufacture of fakes use:
- plastic;
- glass;
- painted epoxy resin;
- cheap varieties of the mineral;
- other cheap stones.
Materials are tinted with green paints, creating beautiful stains on the surface
The most labor-intensive way to make fakes is repainting white “utility” in the noble color of “imperial”. This requires special chemicals and equipment. The result is products that not every jeweler can immediately distinguish from the original. But usually scammers use simpler means.
How to spot a fake
To verify the authenticity of the proposed copy, you need to pick it up and carefully examine it. Real jadeite cold and heavy. It does not heat up in the palms. There should be no voids or air bubbles inside the mineral, and if they are present, it is “epoxy.”
This gem enough solidto scratch the glass, but the stone itself cannot be touched with a needle or blade. Moreover, the presence of existing cracks or scratches indicates its authenticity.
Structure jadeite unusual and unique: under a magnifying glass, veins are visible inside it, its structure is similar to scales and fibers.
The color of the specimen must be heterogeneous. Green spots on a whitish background are scattered across its surface. Sometimes other colors are found: gray, white, orange, purple, brown, pink.
Real stones cannot be smooth, they surface looks like an orange peel. If it is not visible to the naked eye, you can take a magnifying glass.
Differences from other minerals
Jadeite and jade are very similar, but the latter is much cheaper. They differ in a number of ways:
- The fibers in the jadeite structure are straight, while in jade they are tangled.
- Jade is a pure green mineral. It does not have yellowish or bluish tints.
Other stones look different upon closer inspection. Often passed off as jadeite green agate.
How to spot a clever fake
Helps to check the authenticity of a stone Chelsea filter – a little-known but effective device. He illuminates the samples with a flashlight – if they change color, then they are fakes.
In the light of a flashlight, fake jadeites look pink or red
The device also helps to identify the type of counterfeit: whether it is plastic or a cheap ornamental stone.
Jadeite is an expensive stone that is often tried to be imitated. A simple visual inspection can detect a fake; you just need to know what to look for. Only in this case will you be able to purchase the original, and not a cheap imitation.

Treasure of Siberia!
Jadeite is mined in Siberia, at the Orasugsky site of the Borussky jadeite deposit of the Western Sayan – 90% of the reserves. The terrain is mountainous-taiga, the terrain is wild – rocky, with slopes steep up to 60 degrees. There are a lot of windbreaks, rubble and, as exotic things, bears, snakes, hordes of ticks. But what is a minus from the point of view of production turns out to be a plus for jadeite – the deposit remains an exceptionally clean, environmentally friendly place.

Reviews of jadeite
Read real reviews from people who have already tried a bath with jadeite and who highly appreciated the unique properties and practical applications of jadeite.
I was puzzled by the question of what kind of stone people use in the bathhouse. Immediately my eyes lit up with jadeite. The pebble looks cool – light green with a grainy structure, as if it consists of small details. In the evening it was time to see if it was a good investment. The result was pleasantly surprising. I didn’t even expect that the bathhouse was still capable of this. The steam was barely noticeable when it came out of the heater, without the choking moisture. And the main crash tester was the mother-in-law. She came home happy, like a boa constrictor. She said that the steam was easy for her, and her head didn’t hurt like it used to.

I was finishing the decoration of the bathhouse and the question arose about purchasing stones for the stove. I went shopping a lot and looked at what they were selling. But the understanding of what I needed came only after reading a large number of forums. The stones actually turned out to be more beautiful than in the photo, especially when moistened with water. Jadeite showed itself to be excellent, the stones are very heavy, they ring well if you knock against each other and do not fall apart, no foreign odors, no cracking, and retains heat for a long time. The steam is simply wonderful, the impressions from jadeite so far are only positive.

The steam is simply amazing, it has a different aroma and is lighter. You need to try it yourself. After an ordinary stone it is impressive. It really holds the heat perfectly, in the morning the temperature in the steam room is higher than before, the stone is hot, which the hand cannot tolerate. It is very hard, cannot be sawed with a grinder, and it was not possible to break it using improvised means. 2 years of weekly heating in a closed heater, and not a single stone collapsed – the pebble stones from the river became unusable after six months. One drawback of jadeite is that it is a little expensive, but it may be better to spend money once than to later look at others and regret that you once saved money for yourself. In a word, I’m glad I changed it.
