What is more expensive: gold or diamonds?
I grew up in the town of Podolsk near Moscow as an ordinary boy, playing Cossack robbers, football, hockey and. war with the guys. Forever with skinned knees, smeared with my mother’s green paint. Already in my childhood I thought about how much pain and suffering wars and disasters brought to people. Once, during another game, I unsuccessfully jumped from a tree: my shirt got caught on a twig, and I severely tore my hand. Blood gushed out. In fright, I ran home, leaving drops of blood behind me. It didn’t hurt me very much – I was more afraid that my mother would start scolding me for the ruined shirt and blood-stained trousers. But she, apparently understanding my thoughts, silently quickly bandaged the wound (mother Olga Dmitrievna worked and now continues to work as a nurse – Author’s note). Then she said, looking carefully into her eyes: – Do you know, Maxim, that human blood is the greatest treasure in our world? It cannot be obtained or purchased anywhere. — Even more expensive than gold and diamonds? “I asked, remembering the Diamond Hunters I had just read by Louis Boussenard. – Expensive! Because human blood – the connective tissue of the body – is unique and unique in its biological structure. – But what if a person loses a large amount of blood? – He may die from blood loss and anemia if another person does not give him some of his blood, and experienced doctors do not have time to transfuse it. This conversation remained in my memory for a long time. Since then, in addition to adventure literature, books on natural science and medical topics have appeared on my table. In general, I read everything that I liked. One day in the library I came across a collection by the famous journalist Gennady Bocharov. I opened the book at random and. I couldn’t tear myself away until I read this essay to the end. The author wrote about the fate of a man who went through the war. One day he was seriously wounded, and the orderlies, considering him dead, did not carry him out of the battlefield. He woke up late at night, bandaged his wounds as best he could and, looking at the dark sky, prayed that the moon would not come out: at such hours the blood clotted more slowly. He might not live until the morning and not wait for help. This seemingly insignificant fact of the relationship between man and nature simply shocked me. The next day after school, I went to the biology classroom and, taking a microscope, spent a long time looking at a drop of blood squeezed out of my finger. She was alive! That’s when I decided to become a doctor, to study the secrets of the body in order to help people. Already as a second-year student at Moscow Medical School No. 7, I went to work as an orderly in the third surgical department of the City Clinical Hospital named after Medsantrud, which is located on Yauzskaya Street, in the Tagansky district of Moscow. The Department of General Surgery of the First Moscow State Medical University named after I.M. is located there. Sechenov, therefore, the most complex surgical operations are performed in the operating rooms. In the departments of the clinic, problems of general, emergency and purulent surgery, issues of anesthesia and resuscitation are developed. It was a good practical experience for me. And every time I came to the intensive care unit, I saw how many patients undergoing treatment needed a transfusion of blood or its components – plasma, red blood cells, platelets. How could I, yesterday’s student, help them? And I came to the conclusion: if you are healthy, then you can, which means you should now help people who need to recuperate in the postoperative period. The next day after my regular duty, I donated blood for the first time. A physically and morally healthy person, having reached adulthood, must think about the fact that donated blood is sometimes the ONLY opportunity and hope for the recovery of a seriously ill patient and often the last chance to survive! More than 20 years have passed since then, I successfully graduated from the Moscow Medical Academy named after I.M. Sechenov, postgraduate studies at the Department of Public Health and Healthcare Organization with a course in economics. Currently, working as a methodologist at clinic No. 1 of the Federal Health Institution “Medical and Sanitary Unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Moscow”, I continue to perform the donor function: to date, the total number of donations is more than 160, I regularly donate whole blood and its components to Blood Center named after O.K. Gavrilov of the Moscow City Health Department. I am convinced that the only thing that lasts in our lives is what we do for the sake of others. I tell my family and friends about this when I’m about to once again visit the blood transfusion station to save someone else’s life. After all, every medical professional knows that, despite the successes of medical science and practice, even in the 21st century there is no artificial alternative to blood and its products, and donation is an exceptional opportunity to give your blood to a stranger, and in fact, to give the joy of life. And further. If one of our relatives or friends gets into trouble, we all rush to help without hesitation. But there is one thing. In everyday life, people often forget or do not think that thousands of unknown patients need blood components and products every day, that in addition to high-profile tragic events, there is also everyday life and human destinies that depend on our compassion and philanthropy. By looking at the dictionary, we will find out what the word donation is. It comes from the Latin word donare, which means the voluntary refusal of a healthy person’s blood in favor of a sick person. Literally – gift, donation, charity. Blood donors are people with different destinies, but similar in one thing. They save lives by giving their blood for this. Millions of people owe their lives to people they have never met—donors who voluntarily give blood without receiving any significant financial reward. I really like the precise and heartfelt words of the outstanding cardiac surgeon, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, public figure, organizer of medical science and practice, Leo Antonovich Bokeria: “Donation is a “quiet feat” in the name of others. Dear donors! Your blood is the spark that makes the hearts of the saved beat with renewed vigor. Your blood is of great value. And the more generously you give it to other people, the more happy moments, smiles and joy there are around us. Those who were once saved by donor blood many times said to themselves thank you to that unknown, but still became family Donor, who gave them the whole world anew.” Maxim GOROKHOV, methodologist of the medical staff of clinic No. 1 of the Federal Public Health Institution “Medical and Sanitary Unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Moscow”, honorary donor of Moscow and Russia Inspiring routes, unusual recipes, reviews of devices, sports news, make-up tutorials, analysis of scientific theories, recommendations for choosing a car, reviews of exhibitions – in Zen you can write texts and shoot videos on any topic!
