Rare and valuable minerals

What stone is called the sun stone?

Sunstone attracts success and luck. But what kind of miracle is this? Feldspars are called sunstone; they are inexpensive and often of ornamental quality. They are framed with inexpensive metal, costume jewelry is made, and less often expensive jewelry is made using precious metals. Also included in the solar family are amber and citrine. They are not related either by chemical formula or physical properties. They are united only by sunshine and mystical warmth, sparkling from within.

Legends about the appearance of amber on Earth

People have known about amber since ancient times, but they could not explain its origin. The stone looks like a sundrop. The ancients believed that this was a tear. Different nations have their own legends about the origin of amber, but each of them has a key point: amber is a tear. The ancient Greeks talked about Phaeton, the son of the sun god Helios. One day, a reckless young man wanted to prove to everyone that he was the son of Helios. He stole his father’s sun chariot and set off on it. The horses – the sun’s rays – were so strong and obstinate that they took the chariot in a different direction. Phaeton could not cope with such force. There were fires on Earth, rivers dried up. Gaia – the goddess of the Earth – turned to Zeus for help, she begged him to save the Earth. Zeus was angry, killed the obnoxious youth and threw his body into the Eridanus River, and turned his mother and sisters into tall pine trees growing along the banks of the river. Even in the form of trees, Phaeton’s relatives continued to grieve and mourn for him, shedding hot tears of loss into the cold waters of the river. This is how the stone of the Sun, amber, was born. Large reserves of amber are concentrated on the shores of the Baltic countries. These peoples also have their own legend of his appearance on Earth. In ancient times, there lived a fisherman who often cast nets into the Baltic Sea. One day, the sea goddess Jurate herself got caught in his net. At first she was angry, and then she fell in love with the young fisherman. But their love was short-lived; the fisherman reciprocated the beautiful goddess. The sea king, having learned that his daughter Jurate fell in love with a simple unworthy mortal, became angry and killed the fisherman. And Jurate was forever imprisoned on the seabed. To this day she cries for her fisherman Kastitis, and a sea storm carries her amber tears to the shores of the Baltic. But these were sad legends. And amber is a sun stone that brings good luck. There is another belief about amber. In ancient times, even before the appearance of life on Earth, the sun was able to illuminate its entire surface. But the sky could not withstand such heat; it dropped the bright sun. Sea waves cooled the rays and split them into thousands of fragments. This is how amber appeared in sea waters, which was carried ashore by waves for many centuries.

Magical and healing properties

A stone of youth, fun and a powerful charge of positivity. The mineral bestows all these properties on its owner. Magicians rarely use amber in their rituals. This stone does not like magical effects. It itself is a source of heat and light and does not require additional manipulation. It is often called the “tear of eternity”, this is no coincidence. The stone is able to prolong youth and give a blooming appearance to the skin. And if fate has prepared grief for the owner of the stone, then amber helps him cope and not lose himself in difficult times. A drop of the sun, precious resin reveals its power better in gold, attracting sunlight several times stronger. Silver is not contraindicated for amber, a sun stone, but it dulls the energy oozing from it. Despite the fact that this is often an affordable craft material, it is a real value in the Middle Kingdom. Previously, only the emperor could wear amber. It was believed that this was the frozen blood of a dragon, which bestows strength and courage only on the true ruler. Amber also has some healing properties. During teething, babies experience sleep disturbances and general anxiety. The solar gem can relieve pain and calm the baby. Excellent for helping children with diseases of the ears, throat and eyes. Petrified resin is a real helper for those who want to lose weight. In recent years, more and more people are overweight. Sunstone normalizes metabolism and accelerates fat burning. Osteochondrosis is a disease that is getting younger every year. Previously, it affected people aged forty and older, but now even thirty-year-olds are affected. Amber fights disease, and is especially good for osteochondrosis of the cervical and thoracic spine. The stone treats diseases of both the lungs and respiratory tract. It can protect smokers from lung cancer, especially if you smoke cigarettes through a mouthpiece made of amber. Astrologers advise representatives of all zodiac signs to wear a sunstone, with the exception of Taurus. Only stubborn Taurus does not succumb to the solar magic of amber; sometimes the stone worsens the well-being of this zodiac sign.

Citrine – solar shard

Solar stones are represented not only by frozen drops of resin from ancient trees. But citrine also belongs to the minerals that harbor sunlight. In terms of its composition, citrine belongs to quartz. For a long time there was no name for this magical mineral. It was only in the 18th century that lemon-yellow quartz received the name citrine, which is translated from Latin as “lemon yellow.” Rarely found in nature, now you can increasingly find citrine artificially created in the laboratory. Whether it has magical and healing properties to the same extent as natural remains a mystery. Citrine is a talisman for speakers and public figures, actors, singers. Those who must hold the attention of the crowd for a long time, absorb thousands of gazes. It perfectly protects against the evil eye and reveals the oratorical abilities of the owner. Citrine is the mineral of doctors and healers. It is believed that it reveals the secret knowledge of medicine and indicates the path to curing the diseases of other people and patients. And the gentle sunshine helps to cope even in the most difficult situation and find a solution at the right time. Solar quartz will also be an excellent assistant in financial matters. This is the gem of bankers and businessmen; the stone reveals its financial capabilities especially well when placed in a ring worn on the little finger. Astrologers believe that citrine is the talisman of Gemini and Aquarius. The mineral will not harm other signs of the zodiac circle, but it will become a real guardian and amulet for air representatives. The golden mineral is able to heal diseases of the musculoskeletal system. But jewelry must be chosen so that the pebble comes into contact with the patient’s skin. It is better if these are beads or a bracelet so that the contact area is larger. Citrine also treats dental diseases and fights yellow teeth. Gold quartz can normalize blood pressure. A ring placed on the ring finger can cure headaches. Traditional healers still believe that citrine can normalize calcium metabolism in the body and relieve magnesium deficiency. For diabetes, golden quartz helps control blood sugar surges. It treats diseases of the liver and pancreas. Citrine will be an excellent amulet for a child. But the mother must put it on her child. It is believed that the Sun stone is able to absorb strong maternal love and be a protector for the child for life. You don’t even have to carry it with you all the time. But if there is such a talisman decoration, then it will always protect its owner. The ancestral decoration, passed on from generation to generation, will be a strong talisman for the whole family. But citrine is a semi-precious stone; family heirlooms are rarely encrusted with it. Magicians prefer to see citrine in gold rather than framed by other metals. Only gold can activate the power of foresight in golden quartz. If you wear jewelry with a gold stone at night, you can see a prophetic dream. Such a dream can be seen not only by a practicing magician, but also by an ordinary person who is the owner of the jewelry. You can get rid of headaches by applying the mineral to your temples or forehead for a few minutes. The stone perfectly develops intuition.

Other Sun Stones

Sometimes, in addition to amber and citrine, the sun stone is called aventurine. Sunstone, or “golden sand,” is the stone of adventurers. It is believed that it is able to indicate to its owner the location of gold in nature and hidden treasure. Adularia is called a moonstone, and its relative selenite is called a sunstone, although in terms of magical properties and in astrology, selenite is closer to the Moon. No. 1-323. More about sun stone

Sunstones are a variety of feldspars that exhibit an iridescence effect in yellowish-reddish tones. These include representatives of orthoclase, microcline, sanidine, oligoclase, and albite. Widely used in jewelry. The iridescence of sunstones is associated with microinclusions of thin plates of hematite and goethite and occurs when light falls at a slight angle to the cleavage. Transparent to opaque. White, yellow, pink, with iridescence in yellow, orange, red tones. Typically, sunstones are cut into cabochon shapes. However, transparent sun stones are cut. It is curious that in Russia the idea of a sun stone is completely different than, for example, in the USA (as is the prestige of a sun stone, which is incomparably higher in the USA).
